Med Pay (Part 2)
Are all auto insurance Med Pay options the same?
No, they definitely are not. There are some auto insurance companies that do not allow for Massage Therapy even if you have Med Pay. Some do not feel it is an actual medical treatment. (See later posts for more information.) Some say they will cover it but only if it is performed by a Medical Doctor, Physical Therapist or Chiropractor. Which is funny since I have yet to meet the physician that will perform massage therapy.
Some will cover it but require that you have a referral from a Medical Doctor or a Chiropractor.
It is very important to understand the benefits you have with your auto insurance. Talk to you insurance adjustor to get clarification. In our experience, working with the insurance company after an accident is never fun, however, in our experience there a couple that are better than others. Liberty Mutual and AAA are usually the easiest to work with and have very competitive rates. We know for a fact that Mercury, which is a low cost insurance company, does not cover Massage Therapy under their Med Pay insurance.
We at Body Fix Therapies hope that no one is ever in an accident, but just in case we want to help you be as informed so you can protect yourself and your loved ones as much as possible.
