Chiropractor vs Massage
Chiropractic therapy and massage therapy performed together can be extraordinarily beneficial. Both treatments work towards the same goal from two different angles. You will get more out of your treatments if you have chiropractic work done in conjunction with massage therapy instead of doing one for a while and then switching to the next.
The key here is that the treatments are performed collaboratively. You can’t just go to a chiropractor and the massage therapist and hope that the treatments will work together. If your practitioners are not in communication about your treatments they may be working against each other without realizing it.
At Body Fix Therapies we refer to chiropractors that are willing to collaborate with us so that we can maximize your results. If you are going to do chiropractic therapy in conjunction with your massage therapy, to maximize your results, we recommend that you get massage therapy one day and go to the chiropractor the next day. We do not recommend doing it on the same day, and we do not recommend seeing the chiropractor first.
When you get corrective massage therapy, you need a good night’s sleep for your body to accept the treatments. Your body is a little vulnerable right after your massage therapy treatment. If you go directly from your massage therapy session to have an adjustment, it might be too much for your body, and you could have too much of a reaction.
However, if you see the chiropractor the day after your massage therapy session not only will your body be more stabilized but your tissue should still be soft for the treatment so the chiropractor can get more done with a less aggressive adjustment. It’s going to be much easier on your body and more effective.
About 95% of the time we see much better results when patients get massage therapy first and see the chiropractor after. We work with a GREAT chiropractor who we would be happy to refer you to. Give us a call at (916)488-4223 or, send us an email here, and we will get you set up.
